Indian Chess History has a new name etched in gold – Srihari LR. After a long wait of 368 days since India’s last GM title, Srihari LR from Tamil Nadu has officially become India’s 86th Grandmaster on 15th May 2025. His journey is a reflection of perseverance, talent, and strategic brilliance – the very essence of what Chess Visionaries stands for.

📈 A Phenomenal Rise

Srihari’s rise to the GM title has been anything but ordinary. He:

  • ✅ Scored his first GM norm at the Qatar Masters 2023
  • ✅ Achieved his second norm at the Chennai GM Open 2024
  • ✅ Crossed the 2500 FIDE rating barrier (live and published) in August 2024
  • ✅ Completed his final GM norm at the Asian Individual Chess Championship 2025, held at Al-Ain, with one round to spare!

He entered the final round with 5.5/8 points and a staggering performance rating of 2668! Regardless of his last-round result against GM Iniyan Panneerselvam, the GM title was confirmed.
