Arjun pulled off this feat through a dominating run of form competing abroad in the German Bundesliga and Israeli Premier League. Playing for the Düsseldorfer SK team, he crushed opponents left and right, posting a blistering 8.5/9 score against top competition. Victims included GMs Alexander Kovchan and Xu Xianliang, who stood no chance against Arjun’s aggressive and accurate play.
This rocket ride up the rating charts sees Arjun overtake fellow Indian top talents like Vidit, Pragg, and Gukesh to become his country’s second highest rated player. It caps off an incredible last six months for the breakout star of Indian chess.
