BRING YOUR VISION INTO ACTION
At just 8 years old, Ashwath Kaushik from Singapore has done something incredible – he’s defeated an international chess grandmaster in a classical chess tournament, becoming the youngest player in history to accomplish this feat.
Chess prodigies seem to be getting younger and younger, but Ashwath has smashed all existing records. He beat 37-year-old Polish GM Jacek Stopa at the 22nd Burgdorfer Stadthaus Open in Switzerland, clinching his fourth straight tournament win in a brilliant attacking game.
This historic triumph cements Ashwath’s status as a once-in-a-generation talent. He already made headlines last year by winning triple gold at the Eastern Asian Youth Championship while still only 6 years old! His tactical sharpness and photographic memory have wowed coaches like Singapore Chess Federation CEO GM Kevin Goh.
Ashwath now joins an elite group of pre-teen chess phenoms like world #15 GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov and youngest ever grandmaster Abhimanyu Mishra. If Ashwath’s aspirations are any indication, the sky is truly the limit – he hopes to hit 2700 one day and even become World Champion, playing aggressive chess in the style of his idol Mikhail Tal.
At only 8 years old, Ashwath Kaushik proves that age is just a number. The next generation of chess superstars is here, rewriting the record books one brilliant game at a time. Don’t miss Chess Visonaries ongoing coverage of these young prodigies that are changing the face of chess!
