Magnus Carlsen Leads Offerspill to Victory at European Chess Club Cup

Chess fans, we’ve got exciting news from the European Chess Club Cup! The 38th edition of the open tournament and 27th edition of the women’s event were just held in Durres, Albania.

In the open section, Offerspill clinched the title led by none other than world champion Magnus Carlsen. This marks Carlsen’s first ever European club victory, proving he can win as part of a team effort. Offerspill dominated the field, not losing a single match and only conceding one draw en route to 13 match points.

Carlsen also took home the gold medal for best performance on board 1, scoring 5/6 with four wins and two draws. His leadership and brilliant play were instrumental to Offerspill’s success.

Novy Bor earned the silver medal, while Gokturk Chess Sport Club claimed bronze.

On the women’s side, Superchess celebrated the outright victory after losing only one match. Garuda Ajka won silver, and Crvena Zvezda rounded out the podium with the bronze.
